Welcome back!

Croeso / Welcome

Blywyddan Newydd da / Happy New Year

What a first week back we have had in Dosbarth / Class 2.

First I would like to thank all of you lovely families for the staff cards, best wishes and gifts that you were very generous with. Our staff breaks will be sweetened with the chocolates and biscuits probably until half term! Thank you from all of us.

This week we had a visit from a 'Mad Scientist.' The children loved the investigations and experiments and we hope that some of you will be able to take advantage of the after school club on offer for 'budding scientists'.

Not many children have brought in their P.E. Kits this week. Please make sure you send in the kit ready for our P.E. Gymnastics lessons starting next Wednesday 15th January.

Water bottles have arrived (thank you) some have fizzy pop or strong juice in though. Please put/provide water in the bottles (we re-fill them) as we are a Healthy Schools Foundation Phase, promoting healthy snacks and drinks for healthy bodies, minds and teeth.

That leads me to a polite reminder for the weekly snack fee. If you have not yet paid for the spring term then please send in your money to the office. Thank you.

Our topic this term is Inventors & Inventions.

In Class 2 we will be looking at how communication has changed over the years. Pigeon post & paper letters to Emails & Emoji's! Morse code & red telephone boxes to mobile phones & Skype. Have any of you got old phones or examples of old posted mail that can be shared with the class or, have any contacts at Royal Mail or B.T that we can take advantage of for a class trip or visitor to school?

I will soon be sending home a questionnaire/survey regarding communication and internet experiences that your child has access to at home. This is to help me to be aware of their capabilities and knowledge of using the internet for games and communicating with others. It will NOT be shared outside of the classroom/school. Your child will only be able to email another child in our classroom or me the teacher as part of our learning about emails, so please be re-assured that we will use the internet safely and sensibly in accordance with our school policies..

As always please remember that if you have any questions or worries that we are here to help. Call in at the start or end of the day to speak to one of us or arrange to meet with myself (Mrs McNamee) and/or our Family Liason Officer Mrs Rathbone-Reid.

Thank you for your continued support

Take care

From Mrs Mac & all the support staff of Dosbarth/Class 2
