Hello families of Mrs Mac's class laugh

Well we have been very busy in the last few weeks of term in both the indoor and the outdoor classroom spaces.

I have uploaded lots of new photos for you to see in our gallery. The file is called Hydref 20.yes

I hope you all received the letter about Seesaw today that was sent home as a paper copy with every child. I will upload a copy to the News folder so (if it didn't make it home in one piece) you can print a copy if you need to.

Mrs Gibbons and I have been busy setting up various learning platform accounts for you to access in the event of a local lockdown or class bubble isolation being necessary. More news on these will be sent to you early next week.

(Seesaw logins will only be sent to you on receipt of the permission slip so please, please, make sure these come back to school quickly)angel

This week we have been very busy in the kitchen! We have celebrated the religion Judaism as part of our RE Curriculum - Other Faiths. The children made Jewish Potato Latkes. They had lots of fun preparing the mix and most of them enjoyed them when we ate them at the end of the day. We made some vegetable soup using orange, yellow and purple carrots with swede, potato and leeks in. Lots of children had never seen a yellow or purple carrot before - never mind tasted one! laughWe also picked pears from our pear trees in the nature garden and made a pear crumble adding some raisins. There are a selection of photos in the gallery to see.yes

Nearly all of the children tasted all that we had made. There were a few surprises for everyone in what they thought they would or would'nt like. We are very proud of the ones who were determind not to taste anything but then did after lots of encouragement.angelheartyes

We have had two birthdays in class. Happy birthday to them both. We sang to them in class and had our own little celebrations at snack time. We will be creating our very own Birthdays wall display next week as part of our new RE topic and to help us celebrate everyones birthdays over the coming year. It would be lovely if you could send us a photograph, perhaps taken with their birthday cake to add to the display as the birthdays arrive during the year.smiley

The outdoor classroom is very popular with all of our children this year and we are outside all day everyday with the children taking turns to be in or out. Thank you to those parents who have sent in wellies already. This is a polite reminder for those who have not yet to please try to send some in. We do have a good supply of plastic waterproof overcoats but it is important that every child brings a warm coat to school everyday now the weather is turning colder and wetter. Girls would also be better wearing tights or trousers now if possible as they are starting to feel the cold on their bare legs bless them.surprise

I have not had many 'All about me' homework returned backto me yet. I wanted to use these as part of our learning next week within our topic Birthdays and All about me. If possible please complete it over the weekend and send us an email with a photo of the completed sheet. Thanksyes

Before I sign off... CONGRATULATIONS to TSyes TS is the first child in our class to achieve his Bronze award for collecting 100 sticker smilieslaughTS has this week had a certificate and letter of congratulations sent home. There are a few other Year 1 children close to this milestone and they will all also be celebrated when they reach this acheivementyes Ardderchog TS... now on to your next 100 and the Silver Awardlaugh

Thank you for your continued support this term and lets hope that we can stay at school in the classroom for as long as possible. It's been lovely to have some normality in the middle of this pandemic. I much prefer being in the classroom with the children doing what we love yesrather than online learning noespecially with them being so young. I quite often forget (for a few minutes anyway), what's going on with the world when we are up to our elbows in cooking, playdough, paint and word work!!!laugh

Thanks again and stay safe all of you

Don't forget to look at the gallery and if yo have time scroll to the bottom of this page and leave us a comment.

Hugs for my little peopleheart
